Cedar Siding Inside Corners

For inside corners i like to start at the corner itself and work the row outward from there.
Cedar siding inside corners. Available smooth or hewn. Air dried 5 x 5 also available for 4 1 2 x 9 half log siding. Use a 4 piece corner system to add a contrasting or coordinating color. It s important to note that working toward the inside corner means the last shingle in the row will likely need a precision size width cut as well as a scribe cut.
This saves time because i can use whatever random sized shingle i want to start with. Use a felt paper spline wrapped around the corner and extending 6 inches beyond the corner board to protect the joints where the siding meets the corner boards see figure 1 5 at left. Always apply primer or stain end cuts. Use a square length of 5 4 stock at inside corners with a spline underneath.

As in the above illustration at inside corners siding is frequently butted against a 2 x 2 trim strip. 2 1 4 x 2 1 4 or 3 x 3 square inside corner. Blend traditional lap siding seamlessly around every bend with vinyl carpentry corner systems or with cedar impressions shakes and shingles with matching inside and outside mitered corners. It can also be butted against adjoining walls with a trim strip used to cover the joint.
Use overlapping 1x4s or 1x6s at outside corners or use 5 4 stock for a heavier look.
